I have a 2003 F-150 Flareside singecab 4.2 V6 and want to swap a 4.6 or a 5.0 V8 under the hood and keep it 4x4 without having to completely destroy my truck. Can anyone help me figure out a way to do this cause I can’t find a plug and play motor for it or anything.

There is no plug and play conversion - nothing even close. A 5.0 (pushrod 302) will bolt to your transmission, but your PCM won't work. The only OBD2 5.0's were in 1996 and in Explorers for a few years after that, I doubt that one of those computers will work right in your truck. Also note that your 4.2 has as much power as a 5.0. A 4.6 won't bolt to your transmission.

What you need is a complete donor 4wd truck with a 4.6 or 5.4. You will need the engine, transmission, PCM, and wiring harness.

As glc stated, You'll need the engine, transmission, PCM, and wiring harness... not to mention a lot of ingenuity to make it road worthy.

Im doing a modern 2015 Coyote swap on my 2003. Its not a project most people would ever attempt at home. Its a SERIOUS project!!
