rough idle???? please describe it
#16
Gang,
I've tried a K&N filter, wire - bundle tie back, checked all the vacumms, and reset the computer. Still have the rough idle problem. I'm reading this thread about the TSB for the motor mounts and wonder two things:
Does this pertain to the 4.6L also?
If it were the motor mounts, wouldn't it run rough all the time as mine comes and goes?Sometimes it runs pretty smooth and sometimes the idle is rough (rough most of the time).
Thanks!

I am getting the same gas mileage as you. I warm my up my truck in the morning and I sometimes get under 10 mpg!
It would be nice to squeeze a little more mpg's out of it.

I have had my F-150 for about two months and have had a rough idle problem as well. One difference though is that I was told it was an exhaust system problem and didn't have anything to do with the engine idle. My problem is an uneven vibration that feels like the engine is missing, but you can hear the engine idle and it sound smooth. Also, it runs smooth. I took it to a performance exhaust place and they said that could be the case. The mechanic noticed that the back muffler mount looked funny and that the dampening weight looked to small. He pointed out that on the crowne vic. there are two dampening weights and that each of those is bigger than the one I have. I called Ford and they said that they are aware of the problem and are working to try to find a fix for it.
