Angry WHY DO YOU DISTRUST DEALERSHIPS????

I have noticed that most people dont trust their Ford dealership. WHY?

EVERY time I go to the dealers, for ANY reason, I can always find some middle aged woman SCREAMING at one of the service people!

CASE: I over heard a woman the other day asking (very loudly) why they charged her for replacing some part.... The service guy replied by saying that she needed that part replaced, it was worn out... She said, SHE JUST HAD THAT REPLACED at such n such dealership, last week.... Screaming with receipt in hand! They hummed and hawed with a sheepish look, desperately trying to come up with ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE TRUTH.... That being they SCREWED HER!!!!!!!!!!

(personally, I believe that service people attempt to take advantage of women, every day!!!)

CASE2: When you go shopping for a new truck/car they are ALWAYS willing to show you the so called "INVOICE PRICE" for that vehicle... "Sir we will sell you this car for $100 UNDER invoice!" I immediately reply with documentation showing invoices prices for that vehicle.... The numbers don't match, how come??? They try to give you some laim excuse... Fact is, if they are selling cars at $100 over/under invoice they have the most intelligent business minds on the planet... How could they stay in business? Hell they gotta pay the salesperson more than that!

Becuase people are so educated about buying, the dealerships must stay ahead of the consumer and figure out ways to make the average $3-$5K on every car! Which is robery! 3-6% is fair!

I have simply been lied to MANY times.... These guys will do ANYTHING to make a buck...I mean ANYTHING!!!!!!!!

What do you think?

Ditto!

Seems they have very short memories too! They'll tell you anything you want to hear then deny it later! I've thought of wearing a body wire next time I buy a car, just so I could hold the salesman to half his promises later!

True, a lot of dealers are a rip.
It makes me REAL happy to know when i bought mine the slaesman told me $50.00 over "invoice" on any truck on the lot.
I know they get holdbacks and rebates back from Ford but he had the best price in Columbia
Also he told me the price over the phone, and when i went down there to buy he did exactly as he said.
I was in and out of there in 45mins without any BS.
I've seen every BS trick they have out there.
Another dealer about a mile from nmy house tried to give me the "let me talk to the sales manager" trick and I just said forget it and left.
All you can do is check with a few dealers and get teh best price you can.

Because of the information available on the internet, informed buyers are getting better deals. You can look up dealer pricing, trade in pricing. There is no excuse to get bodyslammed by a dealer anymore.

The only thing I don't trust about my Dealership hear in College Station; is the Body shop. I won't get into it because it is a long story, But If I could I would love to beat the body shop manager; cause he screwed me when I took my mustang in for the hail damage saying it was my fault when in fact it was their screw up about the cracked hood that was fixed by them 4 months ago before the storm. That's all I have to say about that.....

RAND (and everyone else),

Let me briefly summarize:

Read experiences with dealers on this web site!
(especially service)....."yea, your muffler bearings need to be greased with this expensive special lubricant made from a 60/40 ratio of Polar Bear Ear Fat and Aged Bat Guana" ... blah... blah.....

I'll give them this "honor", some of the best bull****ters in the world work at car dealerships! Probably why we all DISTRUST DEALERS.

See 5.4L oil leak if you want to begin to sense some of my fustration.

Starting to get that road rage feeling so I better quit.

Because my rattling wheel trim ring needed to be cleaned...lol

Oh, yeah. And pinging is normal operation. Now I drive 250mi for service. And ya know what? There was not a line on the ticket NPF!

See why I said to get to know your techs? I won't even worry about raising the hood when I pick it up.

Trust is earned.
I know Bob Turner's Ford here has continued to go in the other direction. The more I had to deal with them the more crap I got from them.

Then when they ruined my paint job while they had my car for a week and didn't accept responsibility and called me a liar I realized that it was time to Never return for anything.

Customer loyalty is a paper tiger at the dealers.

I am truly sorry all of you have had such sh***y experiences with your dealers. My experience with my dealer and Ford has been very good. Maybe the difference is that I live in a small town in Northcentral Montana where everyone knows everyone else. If a business does not provide good/fair deals and service, word travels fast and you're no longer in business!
If dealing on a new vehicle, do as Psycho suggests and get on the internet with Kelly Blue Book or Edmands(Edmonds?). Get as much info as you can and you will be more informed(smarter) than the dealer/salesman.
If you have a problem(and remember anything made by man can have problems!),try to work reasonably with your dealer/service dept. Everyone of us can have a "bad" day and you shouldn't be jacked around, but again try to keep your cool, be persistent, and be smart.

Thumbs down

Ford Motor has the worst customer service I've ever seen. Even the idiots on the other end of the so called customer service line are cold, rude and uninformed.

Somewhere along the way these people started believing their sh** don't stink (their vehicles sure do) and it will catch up with them sooner or later

well, The dealer here in California is terible. I broght my 97 in for a leaky dif. Fixed under warrenty, the greas monkey got oil on my arm rest. I told the service manager about it and he wanted me to bring the truck back the next day. I said no no no, you clean it now. they did, After I got home I looked under the truck. the oil is still all over the bottom and they made no attempt to clean the oil up. So, I have to do it just to make sure the seal is good.

I HATE.. hum .. "H A T E" to take my truck to the dealer. they just dont care about the job they do. Now I have to take it back for more warrenty work to be done. Got the wiper washer problem, the paint is flaking on the wiper arms, and the mirror control **** is missing. all under warrenty.

To recap. do it your self. if you have to take it to the dealer. inspect their work.

The dealer where I bought my 2000 Ranger doesn't have their own body shop. The shop they use is 20 miles away, and has a bad reputation. I purchased the truck there because of price. I took the vehicle to a closer dealer for the minor trim and repainting. The "service advisors" at the dealership have no mechanical experience and are basically service salesman. As cars and trucks become increasingly more High Tech we will be at "Quality Care" and "Goodwrenches" mercy. All my 3 trucks are still under warranty, but when they're not I'll hope Bubba at the local repair shop won't be over his head. I do not trust dealership service departments either.
