Being off by 5 is a hell of a lot different than nearly 20.

True that! True That! True That!

I don't trust any of those sites either...I had a salesman tell me the 5.4L had 300hp, when I was lookin for a new one. Most salesman are uninformed about what they sell!

Superpages was INACCURATE as well. Besides having SEVERAL INACCURATE AND OTHERWISE INCORRECT HP and torque ratings, they ERRONEOUSLY STATED Ford dropped the supercab for the '96 model year. I know this to be UNTRUE. The BEST SOURCE for specifications would be FORD FACTORY LITERATURE, not the internet or some brain dead salesman.

You are correct Fordman. They are innacurate. The ford brochures are are close to exact, but like you said before, they too are a bit innacurate. They change details over the year. They said the 302 had 185hp from 1987-1993. Which is wrong, My 93 had 195hp from the factory. The supercab was used in 1996. The flareside was killed in 1995.

Hey man that is ok
but now that you know about it, know that the 4.9 is one of the best engines ford ever built, i am kind of biased toward the 5.0 though

Don't be afraid of the 302. It was started in 1967? and is still in production today. It makes like 215hp now. I can guarentee you, that it will keep up with the 4.6L. It is a excellent engine. Very efficient. I am on my 3rd.

I'm a little embarrassed to admit it, but admitting this will show how new I am to the "truck side" of Ford. I had no idea that Ford made a 4.9 liter 6-cylinder motor. I've never been interested in 6-cylinder vehicles, so I never looked into them before. I thought maybe Ford started calling their 5.0 V8 engine a 4.9 for some political/insurance reason. When I heard that it was making way below 200 hp, I freaked out. Thanks for all of the responses, and pardon my stupid question.
