Question 100,000 mile tune up interval

Is this a realistic number? It said on the retail sticker 100,000 mile tune up interval. On my 88 F150 I would change the plugs every 25,000. Is there something special with these triton engines to make the long intervals possible.

Yes- the sparkplugs are a PITA to change.

Seriously, check the plugs regularly and change them when they need it.

Yea I would do it by 50K. They might be having a problem you would want to know about. And once you get em out then you ask yourself "why not just put new ones in for 60 or so bucks?" so....well.. after you see how tough it is getting the boots out, clean the holes out and pull the plugs you will not want to go in there again for a long while. So you usually just put new ones in.

Under certain conditions..sure, 100,000 miles could be possible. I am not going to wait that long. like cphilip...50K sounds good to me for new plugs! The Triton engines use Platinum plugs..which do last much longer than regular plugs.

Exclamation

50,000 sounds reasonable. It must be awful being a Triton tune up guy.

When I sold my 97 in Sept it had 80K on it with no spark plug change. Stll ran great, started great, and mileage was at 17-18 mpg highway.

As always ymmv.......
