Unhappy Engine

My problem is that sometimes my 1998 F150 4x4 5.4 starts fine, other times you have to give it gas, to keep it running. I took it to a Ford Dealer, they said that it was Carboned up, and that they need to clean my intake, and replace 2 sensors IAC, and PFE sensors ($ 750.00) has anyone else heard of this? I driver aprox 44 Highway miles per Day, and I don't creep along. Totally jkroft2931@aol.com

AVOID THAT DEALER!!!

They are charging way too much. Most dealers have a machine they hook upto your engine either behind the throttle body or on the fuel rail for flushing carbon. It cost $129.00

The DPFE costs:$48.00
I'm not sure what the IAC (Idle are control valve) costs but it's NOT $400.00

IAC is $60 and you can do it yourself.
