FIPK for 2002 F-150

Dad finally took the leap and ordered a new Black 2002 F-150 Fx4 5.4L extended cab. This was a big step up from the 1984 F-150 4x4 straight 6 he's driven daily since he ordered it in '83. Not to worry, he kept the original for those times when you can't worry about where you're taking the truck or what you're hauling in it.

Now to my question. What FIPK to get him; K&N, Volant, MAC, or other? Secondly, will any of these work with the 2002 models?

Thanks for the help, I'm just trying to be a good son and show him some of the possibilities for his new truck.

MOHO,

Welcome to F150 Online.... as for the FIPK, there have been many discussion on this board, look at the top of the page in your browser, find the search button third from right, searck on K&N or FIPK or Air Force One or MAC, you get the picture, and you should see all the discussions....

Jryager,

Thanks for the response. I've read through just about every posting I could find on the site about the subject, so I have a good idea of what I want. The problem now is will any of them fit the 2002 F-150s? I haven't been able to find any discussions on this subject yet. Has anyone had much experience with the 2002s or at adding an FIPK to one? Would one made for the 2001 work, or has Ford made too many changes with the new model year?

Thank for the help all, this has been a great site to find.

As far as I know, Ford has not changed the engine layout for 2002. You should be ok by ordering a 2001 FIPK or other things. I know my FIPK I ordered was for 97-01 and my headers were the same. Just shows that if it works, don't change it.
