Question gas consuption

I may sound ignorant but it is being a long time I dont pay attention to the gas consuption in my cars, after reading if any mods qualify to increase your gas consuption and installing these same mods only to increase power I decided to take measurments, I filled the tank and with the digital readout in the gauge it said 23.8 gls, with 0 miles starting the trip I made a round trip 45.26 miles in a two way road with heavy traffic that involved also a lot of stop and go with passing when needed driving at an average 50 mile per hour speed, when I got home I read the gauge and it had 18.9 gls, for you guys is this good or average??

Question

Well, if you consider using 4.9 gls of gas in 45.26 miles, then it is good. However, I travel 50 miles round trip to and from work on a two lane highway with some stop and go, while averaging 40 mph. I am averaging 16 mpg on my 5.4L, 3.30 rear gears. I average 20 mpg on highway.

OE,
Thanks for the reply, but,

SORRY I MADE A MISTAKE WHEN WRITTING THE GLS
IT SHOULD READ 21.2GLS.

I agree with Pat. My truck gets 13-14 in town and a best of 17.5 on the highway @ 75. It would probably get better with less speed but who wants to do that...;-p

Angry

You guys have nothing to complain about. I only get 11.3 city and 13.0 on highway. The truck runs perfect and very rarely do I stomp on the gas. Maybe the 3.73 gears have a factor? I even put on a Superchip, K&N, and exhuast... and still the same mileage. I envy you guys getting 14+.
