I use Amsoil Series 2000 0w-30 in the F150, and I use the Series3000 5w30 in my VW Jetta TDI.

I use 10w40 in my BMW r1100r

It's nice to see so many folks using synthetic. I guess it's not snake oil any more!!!

I saw a Consumer Reports article. They took a bunch of New York taxi cabs and tested them using both synthetic and regular oils and 3000 and 5000 mile change intervals. They reported that there was no difference in engine wear between synthetic and regular oils and no difference in change intervals after tearing the engines down and checking them out. I personally use Valvoline 5-30 every 3000 miles. I'm going to switch to synthetic in my transfer case and I just had my tranny oil changed by Ford who of course put in Motorcraft Mercon. Just my 2cents.

Regarding the NY taxi cab test...seems to me that those results are only valid if we drive our trucks like the taxi cabs. I shut my engine off every night, it cold soaks, and is cold-started the next morning. Aren't the cabs run virtually 24 hours a day? Also, if synthetic is better, I'd expect the advantage to show up after a hundred thousand miles. I wonder how long they ran the taxis?

valvoline synthetic 5w-30. Its all good (most oils that is) as long as you change it and the filter every 3000.Its funny watching people defend their oil as the best.....like their life depended on it. Just keep it clean.
