Thumbs up

all i know is this i can hang with a 2000 mustang 4.6 in a drag from a stop not moving.i raced him 3 times.#1 i was like a truck behind at the end#2 i was 3/4 a truck,#3 i was at his door with my front end.yes he did spin some, but all in all he had good hook ups.i spun like 5 foot only.i can spin all of 1 gear and some of 2 nd on a good day.my truck is a 97 4.6 ext. cab,8 foot bed and 4x4,a big truck.it takes a lot of power to move a truck that big.i bet i can run a 14.5 in the 1/4 mile with my truck.i have a 98 trans am with the ls1.stock 305,in stock it dynoed at 300 rwhp.well now i have done a lot to it and ran a 12.65 in the 1/4.stock i ran a 13.4.and when i hop in my truck i don't feel slow.i have drove that mustang and it feels a little faster then my truck not much.

Kevin 3636 that sounds like a cool truck, I just think you may have higher expectations on your hp figures, if you look at a current lightning with only 360 hp and have gone as fast as 13.31 stock(MM&FF)with 395 hp you would destroy any mustang!!I was just tring to point out that stacking hp numbers isn't a true indication of actual hp, due to the fact that the indiviual gains are seen thruout different areas the rpm range and not all in one place. And I am in no way tring to slam you ride, I think a 14 sec F-150 is awesome, and know it doesn't come easily or cheap.Hey do you know anyone with a G-TECH? good little tool to have for the $$.

Crash, what I was trying to say is, at street boost levels say 8 psi, the benefits offered by intercooling are slight, and the same gains could be easily attained by adding higher octane fuel then either raise the boost or add additional timing.I'm not saying it doesn't work, just that it isn't as effective or needed at what I would consider streetable boost levels(using pump gas) at higher boost levels intercooling may even be required just to ****ion.I hope this clears it up, by the way how long have you had the magna-charger?

Neal,

I have to second what Fordman said about KB. Unless they have changed in the last year their technical help is alsmost nonexistent, if you can even get ahold of them. I had a simialr problem that Fordman had with detonation, and poor drivablility. After several phone calls and conversations with Jim Bell, I just gave up and took off my supercharger. And guess what, KB is the only service center for those type of superchargers. While the product they sell is solid, their support stinks. If you can find someone to tune it for you (other than KB) and the unit is trouble free, the KenneBell is a nice sc and I think would work the best on a truck. But if it doen't work right you will be on your own.

Mike

Cool

HI!... CRASH : I was just reading on the 1ST page of this thread and seen your dyno #'s after you instaled your MAGNACHARGER. As I read, you made 217H.P at the rear wheels after the supercharger installation, right? Well with your truck having a 4.6, it makes 220H.P at the flywheel stock from the factory. With what I have been told from MIKE TROYER, our trucks lose 50H.P through the drivtrain with a manual anf 65H.P with a auto (4R70-W). Taking this into account, you should be making roughly about 170H.P at your rear wheels, STOCK. Since you got a rear wheel dyno # of 217H.P, that means your MAGNACHARGER supercharger only gave you about a 47H.P increase! That seems like not a lot of H.P for $4000.00(U.S). Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the MAGNACHARGER! Right now I am undicided between the MAGNACHARGER and the KENNE BELL "BLOWZILLA". It just seems that all the DYNO #'s that I have seen and read in books about are NO WAY close to what I have seen the KENNE BELL produce. When I talked with JIM BELL the other day (1 hour conversation) he told me that KENNE BELL is getting betwwen 90-110H.P at the rear wheels on a F-150 with the "P.I" 5.4 engine. That is with 6 PSI. I want to run 8 PSI on my truck. Have you had a chance to run your truck down the 1/4 mile yet? If so, what were your times like. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to make fun of your truck. Actually I think your truck is great looking and sounds like you have a lot of time into it. It's just that I live in CANADA and whatever SUPERCHARGER that I end up buying will end up costing me 1-1/2 times what you "YANKS" are paying for them. Because I have to spend SO much on a SUPERCHARGER, I want to make sure I get the most H.P increase for my dollar. I also want it to be simple to put my truck back to stock when I go to trade it back in. THANKS for the info.
