A fellow employees daughter 99 ranger 4x4 and hit a median barrier at 45mph which did initially contact the front bumper. The air bag did not deploy resulting in serouis injury to the driver. Can anyone give me the specifics on the air bag deployment mechanism and who I should contact at the ford motor company in regard to this. Thank you.

hey i had a 1999 Ford ranger supercab 4x4... this 1998 ranger hit me in an intersection back in oct.. he stuck me in the front on the passgers side.. most of the inpact was in the front... it hit on his drivers side front.. both airbags in his 1998 deployed..niether of mine did...he was traveling about 55 mph.. i was makeing left turn at about 15 mph.. luckly and think the lord nobody was hurt.. they said i was lucky to be a live... about the air bags!!! i have heard different stuff about how they work.. one was it has to be a dierct front end inpact that there is a senor in the front.. two something about G force how fast your truck comes to a stop.. three was u have to be going over 35 or 45... ok never the less both air bags went off on his truck mine did not i took the harder hit and had more damage... so i think everybody's air bags should have deployed... my truck had $13,000 worth of damage and frame damage.. it did not total it..it should have been totaled but that is a different topic.. hope this is any help.... hope she gets better... i will pray for her... emial me at rangerboy18@yahoo.com if u have any qeustions.... doug
