Welcome to the boards. There are several dealers like Performance that sells low temp thermostats but I think you don't need that for your truck.

If you want go to the Ask a Vendor section here and ask Mike Troyer of Superchips all about low temp thermostats. He will be able to explain it very well or do a search on the engine section for old treads on this topic.

If after all this you are still interested in getting one I do have one available from Hypertech (160º) for sale for the 1998 F150 with the 5.4. If you can verify if it is the same for the 2001, it's yours.

Hope this helps.

Welcome to the board ganiman.

I too am a fan of the low temp stats, but was informed that out newer mod motors perform better in the 190 range.

Have you been chipped yet?

Thanks for the info Tread. Actually I ordered the superchip 2 days ago, bassani ss cat back a week ago,and a generation2 around the same time.I just always heard the low temp stat would keep power higher than at normal operating temp.I guess Ill wait for this string to get longer before I try one, just to get different peoples opinions.

Anxiously awaiting the ups guy,
Frank.
