Question Need help with speedometer gear install

I posted this in other places but I think this is the only place where anyone reads.
Has anyone installed a speedo correction gear in a 97 or 98 auto trans?? If so, how hard is it and do you have any tips??

It's about as hard as sliding under the truck. There is only one bolt that holds it in. It's located on the driver side near the rear and has one plug in. Unbolt it, you can unplug it if you want, slide the clip off, slide the gear off, slide new gear on, replace clip, lube the oring with a little clean ATF and bolt it back up. 10 times cheaper and 10 times easier than fighting with a dealer to reprogram a 99 or newer truck, IMO. The newer you get the harder they mae it for the average Joe.

It's a 10mm bolt. Also make sure your new gear has the same tooth pattern as the old one. Some angle to the left, and some to the right, if the new gear is opposite as your old one it will not fit.

Tell me what tire/gear setup you have now, and the new setup you want and I'll tell you what gear you'll need. You get them from Ford. Make sure your truck is a '97-'98.
