Post suggestion please

I went to get gas today at Texaco and the guy at the pump told me the plastic piece that lets the nozzle in my tank was broken..
i asked him if he could grab the broken piece outta the gasline and he tried to get it out with a pen. Suddenly I watch him drop the pen into my gastank (I'm pissed now).. I am going to call the owners of the gas station first thing tuesday morning because I feel like it's his responsibility to get it outta there.
do you guys think it may damage my fuel pump or maybe mixing the ink/plastic w/gas is a bad combo? Should I have the whole tank dropped to check for debris?

any help would be appreciated.. this is gonna suck tryin to get a gas station to drop my tank (if nessesary)

If I were you I would have the tank dropped. Otherwise you will have a pen in there forever. If you wait until you have a problem it will be next to impossible to hold them accountable. Let time be on your side.

If it were me I would not concern myself about that inkpen. The gasoline has either already disolved the pen or if it hasn't by now then it is probably made out a slow or non-disolving plastic in which case would not contaminate it enough to cause a problem. I would keep the tank full for a few months so if the pen does disolve it will be less of a percentage of contaminate. The gasoline pickup tube in the tank will not pick up a pen and cause a problem. Kinda keep in mind you have a greater problem because of trying to fix a minor problem. Some things are better left alone.

thanks for the response fellas..

Bubbadewsky,
your reply really opened my eyes about this situation. I'm actually more worried now about the small pieces of plastic that shattered when the coupling around the nozzle input was broken.

ya think that's still better left alone?
