No two tests have ever given the same results, apples to apples or not! These types of articles are writen by people who sell what? ......MAGAZINES, NOT CARS OR TRUCKS! Even MOTORTREND is notoriously bad about printing incorrect information. I no longer believe ANYTHING those stupid idiots write, as none of them really even have a clue as to what they are really doing. I believe I hinted towards this in my previous post. The reference to the article's results was primarily made to prove my point. I have a Truck Trend mag that said the Chevy 8.1 out powered BOTH Fords and Dodges V-10's. Level and unloaded the 1/4 mile was less then a tenth off for all of them, but 0-55 loaded with 7400 pounds and up ramp (they did not mention the grade) the Chevy was 3.1 seconds faster than the Ford and 6.0 seconds faster than the Dodge. You do not have to believe this, as I really don't care. :o (I can mail you the article if you would like to read it). They are all good trucks and engines, just pick the one you want and enjoy it.
Got that issue of "TruckTrend"too, seems they didnt' care to get a Ford with the same gear ratio as the cheby had. Also, look at the "as tested" weight listed for both trucks and you'll see that the Ford is already pulling around hundreds more pounds of quality truck the the cheby, and that's before they loaded it with ballast. LOL

cheby, hehe

A guy at work just got a "Flowmaster CAT Back" exhaust put on his 6.8L V-10 equip SuperDuty. . . I told him it sounds like a UPS truck, he's smaller then me, plenty fiesty though

BTW, We swapped rides for the night and I drove her hard, as I am sure he did mine. I was pretty impressed but then so was he. Of course my Expy is several hundered pounds lighter then his DRW F-350

From what I've seen of mags is that when the 8.1 first came out it beat the v10 but shortly after that ford increased the power on the v10's and then the ford won.

Also seen where a 5.4 with 3.55 could tow a little better than a 6.0 with 3.73's

I did drive a 4x4 5.3 and it did seem to go pretty good (hate to say it but better than my 5.4) but the whole truck seemed weak, smaller control arms, diffs, etc, and the box was falling apart at the back (cracked between tailgate and wheel well openings)(it was a work truck but fords seem to stand up better in that respect)

Drove a duramax - not impressed
drove a dodge 24v ho - impressed - seemed to have a little more down low but would not keep pulling like the power stroke as it ran out of rpm, wether the dodge last longer or not I dont know, but fords fuel and air filter systems suck and cause most of their problems(diesel)

chev looks easier to work on, ford bends its tech's over who work on them, told chev does too, but don't know about dodge

The 5.3 (atleast the one I drove) was quick but the truck itself did not seem to be the greatest, just like the old dodges with the cummins - good engine crappy truck (don't know much about the new dodges though). Ford seems to have the truck but there engines just don't seem to have any ***** (compared to chev), but they never really did in the past either (except for the little HO 302 wich wasn't in a truck anyway).

Personally if I was going to buy a new truck it would probably be a dodge, mostly because i know a lot of ford techs and ford bends them over eg( less than 10 hours paid to do a 3.0l dohc 4x4 escape engine replacement, 6 hrs 5.4 head gaskets, 9 hrs 7.3l diesel engine replacement, etc) as comparison if I was to have a head gasket replaced it would be about 18 hrs, or about 23+ hrs for a power stroke. It could also be that my family (myself, sister, bro) all had 99 (3)5.4's and every one of them had a head gasket leak(won't even mention the door cracks and the resale value), and the price to maintain a 5.4 is probably more than a chev or dodge, 5 hrs for tune up, how much for a chev i wonder.

I could see my self polishing a ram but it still would not be the same as a blue oval, hopefully the new ford guy can bring the company back to its roots of Henry and make quality job 1 and treat buyers as family instead of dollar signs

You must have come from the LS1.com page with your flaming mouth.
Popular Mechanics is not a truck mag, so I would suspect no one to be bias.
The Ford V10 did put the 8.1L to shame, and carried more vehicle weight. Also the 8.1 I belive had a lower gear ratio.

You obviously live up to your name, a little kid. Because you got your name from a cartoon.
If you think magazines are bs, then you wouldn't get so flustered about one of them putting a retarded idea from chevy down. Every mag. puts one brand down at some point in time.
This whole thing got started by how lots of use belive the 8.1L is more of a stature sign than it is usefull.

So why dont you find some Silverado sight and cry there.
Where all sick of you mouth, and your brain that you think is so full of good knowledge.

****

Not sure what cartoon you are refering to, but warlock refers to a sorceror or one who practices in black magic. Would you like to explain to all the boys and girls how you came up with your name (the whole 'whats a **** for' thing, real mature). Actually I dont recall saying anything negative about Fords, You, or anyone or anything on this site. It occurs to me that You are the only one who is sick of my 'mouth'. If you don't like what I post, then don't read what I post. If you don't like me, then I invite you to handle this off site, (this forum is not here for your petty non-informative banter), if you in fact can handle it. If this is supposed to be a site where Ford owners can pat themselves on the back for owning a Ford, great, and good for all of you, but I read nothing saying I could not join and add my opinions and some facts so long as I keep it civil.

Petrol

Sorry, but the Ford had BETTER rear gear (Chevy 4.10-Ford 4.30) and the payloads 'as tested' were even but the Chevy in fact carries around 400 MORE curb weight than the Ford. You might want to go take another look at 'your' magazine. Mine was Sept/Oct 2001.

Ford, heh heh heh (oops, warlock see warlock do!)

Remember that,

So you practice black magic and your a sorserer (I can spell it right)
You might want to change your name then, because sorserers; practice witchcraft.
If you have one, (my user name). Then you would know what it's 4. It's up to everyone else to take it mature or not.

My real name is Richard, so if I put Richard 4 would you like it better.
Lots of are user names are joke's, so I wouldn't expect you to be offended.
As well, I did not say anything too negitive about Chevy's.

You should remember you posts, and read others carefully before you reply.

Also, you live in Texas, I live in NY. How did you want to settle this, are you going email me.

I don't think you could come up with a informative post that us Ford owners care about.

So Swofford, I guess your a genius Right?

Actually ****, if your name is Richard then you in fact do live up to your username . Why don't we settle it by just being, gulp, friends (just here of course). Just because I own a Chevy (Cheby for everyone here) doesn't mean I'm not a nice guy

Oh well, it won't matter next year when Nissan unveils their new full-size truck. The F150 will be traded in.
The new Nissans will be equipped with an Infiniti Q45-derived V8 modified to put out 340 hp.
Lets face it... If it looks anything like any of the other trucks Nissan has made, you'll need all 340 h.p. to RUN from all the people chasing you out of there neighborhood!!!

Your location threw me off.(Washington)

Texas! That explains everything. The media tried to blame Bush for wrecking the Education system down there but, it wasn't his fault.

Every Governor had a hand in it. My favorite story is about a Texas Governor in the thirties who was asked about the possibility of bilingual education in the great state of Texas.

The Governor held a Bible high in his hand and said:
"If English was good enough for Jesus Christ, it's good enough for Texas!".
