Question Where do i start

I am wanting to add an Airaid, Gibson Side Swept Exhaust, and a SuperChip to my truck after reading post on this web site. Not having the money to buy all of these at once, which would be the best to start? 2001 Super Crew, 4x4, 5.4L, Lariet, 4x4, 3.55LS.

Why not try the "free" airbox mod and buy the exhaust system? Then, save your pennies for the chip & gears (mentioned in other thread)!

I would definitely go with the exhaust first. It is the only one that people will notice from the outside of the truck. You will get the most enjoyment out of it (hearing that aggressive growl when you gas it) and it will probably give you the most horsepower.

definitly the exhaust. as far as the air raid system I think its a waste of money to be spent elsewhere,an oem K&N filter and 1 of the many diferent air box mods seem to work as well, if not better since its cheaper.

Cool

The Superchip gives by far the most HP for the $$. The exhaust and intake mods compliment each other and provide alot for the $$ also. I tried the OEM intake mod first, then got a FIPK. The FIPK made a huge improvement over the OEM intake mod.

The owners from the posts in the "Computer Chips" topic would say the chip. Guess it depends on which topic you look at. I don't have one myself, so can't speak from experience. There is a rep from Performance Products (I think his handle is Superchips_Distributor) that has posted alot of information on this. He is very active on this board. Hope this helps.

BTW...The Performance Products guy's name is Mike T. I've never spoken with him myself, so couldn't tell you if he is biased or neutral. Although, he does seem to offer alot of good information.

I'm in the same boat as you, and I decided to do the chip 1st. My reasoning was that the Superchip would improve the overall drivability the most, and would give the best bang-for-the-buck. I've experienced vastly improved shifting, increased power & torque throughout the rev range, and better throttle response. I don't think the other 2 mods would affect the vehicle as much as the chip did. I'll probably add a Ravin Z55 next, and then possibly an AF1 intake last.
