Question Fuel problem, but where?

I need assistance please!
This is strange and I will try to explain what is wrong. OK, I have a 1989 Ford F-150 that won't start but will turn over. After replacing the dash F/R switch, the fuel relay under the hood, checking to see if there is 12 volts when trying to start at the external fuel pump, changing the fuel filter, I cannot figure out what is wrong!
I am going to try disconnecting the black module or whatever you call it that switches from the front tank to the back to see if that is my problem.
I have replaced the external fuel pump 5 times. As soon as I put everything back together, the truck starts right up, runs and drives great. I even have (with the pump that I changed) started and turned it off like 15 times throughtout the whole day and even let it idle for like 30 min at one time. BUT, the next morning I go out to start the truck,,,, and NOTHING!!!!! Why does the fuel pump just suddenly stop working like that???? Am getting VERY tired of replacing that easy fuel pump!!!!
Please help me!!!!

Eric

I'm probably way out in left field here, but you may want to look at your Main Relay. I had a similar problem with a 1991 Honda and after replacing almost everything else on the car, tried the Main Relay. Haven't had a problem in 3 years.

Thanks, but if I know what the main relay is, then I have already replaced it but I'm not sure. Do you know where it is? It it a little kinda rectangle looking box that you plug into under the hood? Something is making my external fuel pump burn-out.....

Thanks,,,,

Have you checked the condition of the wires going to the fuel pumps, especially the ground wire?? It could possibly be a short or dirty connection.
