Post Swaping out a 4.2L for a 5.4L

I was just wondering if it was possible to swap out my 4.2l V6 with a 5.4l V8. what would be requiered to do the swap? would i have to buy a new tranny (i have a 5spd right now)

The least painful way would be to buy a roll-over and swap the entire engine/tranny/computer package.

The least painful way to do this is to simply trade your truck in for a 5.4. There is alot more to swapping engines than you think. Your truck was just not made to handle that motor and the power that it produces. It is possible to do but these kinds of projuects always end up "money pits". It would just be easier and probably cheaper to buy a 5.4 from the factory.
