Post 100,000.00 Mile Warr.

New here have a question thats been eating at me. I have the 100,000 mile warr. I now have 30,000. My salesman "buddy" told me I can get a refund for the full price of the warr. I have had no problems yet. At all!!
I could even get a Kenny Bell charger for what I paid for the warr. If nothing goes wrong before 100,000 I will have a charger instead of burning the cash. PLEASE LEAVE YOUR THOUGHTS. Thanks!

My two cents: like any other insurance, a warranty is a gamble. Just because you have had no problems for 25 thousand miles does not mean you're going to make it another 75 thousand. I know people who have complained that they bought an extended warranty and never got to use it! They should be happy they have had no trouble. I pay several hundred dollars a year for a term life insurance policy. Damn it! I have not got to collect yet! (makes as much sense, doesn't it?) I paid about $1000 for an extended policy on my son's car. He had absolutely no problems during the first three years. But now its four years old and although it has only about 30k miles, we have had to replace the radiator, stereo, some brake components AND the transmission, as well as other smaller things we had done while it was in the shop in order to get everthing done under one $50 deductible.
The extended warranty has paid for itself almost three times over!
If you turn your car or truck over every two or three years then you certainly do not need an ESP. If you plan to keep it for many years, I'd buy it and keep it, but like I said, it's a gamble.
Roll your dice and take your chances!

Wink

Keep the warranty, and send me a Kenne Bell for my truck. I'll let you drive it whenever you're in the area. Really...

If you're thinking blower, chances are you'll end up doing mods that might void the warranty long before you hit 100,000 anyway. Maybe not, but sounds likely.

If you're gonna play, you gotta pay!

My aftermarket warranty expires at 85,000 miles. I have 66,000 miles on my 97 Lariat, and I just got $1055.00 dollars worth of work done last week. The $700.00 I paid for the warranty were just paid back with interest. I my opinion, extended warranties are worth it. Just extra insurance.

Thumbs up

I agree on keeping the extended warrenty. My 50K warrenty is almost up and had to have the tranny worked for erratic shifting. Glad I had the warrenty..I'd hate the see the $$ on that bill.

I say ditch the warranty if you are somewhat knowledgeable about working on your truck. I am 50,000 and haven't had any problems at all. The extended warranty for 100,000 miles ranges anywhere from $2,000-3,000(bumper to Bumper)much more than any problem would cost to fix unless you have had alot of problems. Plus when you have an extended warranty they will try everything in their power to blame you for what went wrong.

I have Ford Premium ESP on three of my four vehicles. The ESP has been used many times for either a major repair (recent new tranny paid for the policy) or a combination of several small things done at one time (only one $50 deduct per trip, not per item.)
The guys at my dealer have NEVER tried to blame me or get out of covering anything. On the recent tranny job, they didn't even bother to tear down the transmission--they put in a new FQR tranny right off the bat, no questions asked. Now if you buy some aftermarker, fly-by-night warranty, I don't know what to tell you.

I've got the 100K warranty. I just passed 36K miles and as we speak, my truck is in the shop getting the clutch pedal system looked at. I've had transmission work several times replacing bad synchros. Yes, it's a gamble, but the money you spend getting the warranty is *much* less than the total cost of repairs and the headache/heartache you get when the problems hit

Keep the waranty. Chances are you will need a new transmission before 100K.

kenster,
Not all dealerships are happy to replace trannys with no questions asked. You may have a great dealership in your area which is great but there are few that work that way. Plus the cost of the ESP is still far more than you would pay for any service you have done.
