New Chevy C3?? HOW WEAK!
#31
Hey visitor when you say go foreign do you mean to a Tundra. It gets 2 thumbs down from me on looks and size. The engine isn't very impressive either. Nissan that little frontier with a 4 feet bed makes me laugh and they have a 3.3 supercharged engine that doesn't even make more hp then 4.0L naturally inspired Ford Sohc. Ford is way ahead of the competition in quality in my opininon. Chevy is 2nd right now but when Dodge comes out with redsign they will be number 2 to Ford. Ford will be redisgning to in 2003. Some very powerful engines like 4.5L navistar (baby diesal)230hp and 400lbsft tq very nice for 6 cylinder. I could go on and on but don't want to get way off the subject.

Dodge just came out with their "new & redisigned" model at the auto show in Detroit. Dave, they did nothing to it. They moved around the front valence a little, redesigned the instrument cluster and the cabin a little bit, and that's about it. (Not to say that Chevy radically redesigned their Silverado and GMC Sierra's for the 2000 model year, but they DID change more than Dodge is planning. Their new engines aren't looking too promising either. Something like introducing a new 235 HP 4.7 liter (pardon my numbers, I'm sure they're not even close, but I heard the numbers and I wasn't impressed at all. Now keep in mind, I use a Dodge Ram for plowing, and it's fine for just that. A solid front axle, and a very UN-LUXURIOUS interior. Great to beat the snot out of, but wouldn't consider it as a daily driver. Admit it, Fords are great, they have their problems. Chevy's are great, they have their problems. Dodge's are great, they have their problems. As long as you buy a truck from one of the "Big Three," you're alright in my book.

BlownHarleyFord, I concur with your review of the 2002 Dodge and in your comments in general. Dogde is going to an IFS though and for 2003 they are suppose to have a Hemi 353ci motor with something in excess of 325hp & 325lbs torque to replace the tried old 360ci.

This is pretty sad. Just me, just leave and dont come back because you're just making a fool of yourself. Really. You do have a point, the Chevy's arent bad trucks. I got a ride home in one last night. 2000 Silverado with the 5.3l V8, Z71. I personally like the back seats better, and the dash layout. The front seats, Ill take the F150 for. I liked the black dash layout, which I dont think ford offers. The gauges were well lit, etc. On moderate acceleration, it felt pretty swift. It felt like I was in a car however, because it had the "no torque feeling", unlike my truck. He got a chance to floor it, and you dont get jerked in the seat like I do in my f150. When I floor it, the tranny downshifts, and the engine roars and slams me into my seat. The chevy didnt downshift, rather it did the "roooooooooo". Oh, and the Z71 doesnt look any higher than my 4x2 f150.
No flames, Im telling the truth here.

I wouldn't get a Ford truck either, and seeing the problems on this website will definitely make me think twice. Just the thought of buying any Ford product makes me cringe. I'm not a truck guy to begin with, anyway.

The problems posted here are anything BUT widespread. They are NOT the norm! There are THOUSANDS of members on this list who don't have these problems. If you actually do a little bit of logical thinking, you'll realize that a relatively SMALL percentage of us are having problems and an even SMALLER precentage of us are having more than one problem!
Posts like Visotor's really pi$$e$ me off!
Like I said, people who use this board to find reasons not to buy Ford are stupid (expletive deleted) idiots. They probably refuse to fly on airplanes because they read in the newspaper that one crashed.
Geezus, people! Use your damned brains! If you know the least bit about statistics, you'd know that the VAST MAJORITY of us have trouble free vehicles.
If I've offended anybody... Tough! Ford Tough!

Hey dennis I understand your concern because like this guy said "Hes not a truck guy" so therefore he don't now crap about trucks or our Fords. It is very true realivley a small percentage of owners are having problems and most of us are having trouble free terrific Ford Trucks. Ford is the best and always will be. He is a gm guy trying to put down Ford and you have to expect that. No body asked these gm guys to come over here. They should be banned from this site due to there ability to cause a ruckus.

I have a buddy with a 4.8 in it and I spanked him in a 5.4 by at least three lengths. The day I left the lot I pulled up next to a 2000 5.3 extended cab and I dusted him, pulled around him and merged onto the freeway, if that is not a smoking I dont know what is, I spun the tires too, a he also had some bs exhaust, in my opinion the new chevy motors are inefficient pieces of crap. I was offered a better deal by the local, chevy dealership on a new 5.3 Z and it was junk, it really felt like a CAR, then I drove my truck, it was night and day, it threw me into the seat and kicked me in the ***. Screw chevy's I have had nothing but bad luck with them, my 94 Z was in the show 5 days out of the month with MAJOR work being done. In my book the hp nos on chevys are inflated, and just me come with your 5.3 and money I'll take them both(just kidding). but its cool that they made the C3 cause they are bad.

About the new dodges:
From our past experiences, larger displacement doesn't equal more torque and horsepower. They just provide larger numbers to fool the unsuspecting tards' that buy impusively.. My .02 cents.

I own a ford truck and my family also has always owned ford, i used to brag them up but that was until the new ones came out, i do like my truck but have had to many problems compared to the others(pre triton engines), out of 3 bought new 99 5.4l my family has all three have had head gasket leaks, two with piston slap (i wont put an fqr in my truck) and 1 has a rebuilt engine with only 30,000km, two have had coil packs burn out, 2 with rough idles and my moms 98 has been realativly good with 80,000k so far except for the doors cracking so i certainly would not say that problems are few, on all are previous trucks 95,93,92,91,(2)89,87 we had hardly any problems (exhust manifolds on 87 and 92)

Sounds like your familys beats the crap out of there trucks. 3 head gaskets must be really pushing that engine hard.
