I always get a good laugh on these ford vs chevy topics. The fact is that ford is no better than chevy and vice versa. For every POS chevy you know about I can tell you about a POS ford I know about. What is the point of this debate. Both trucks have good and bad points.

I own a 98 chevy ext-cab Z-71 and while it has had some problems, its been a pretty good truck. I also like the new ford trucks and almost bought one instead of the Z-71. I come here to learn more about ford trucks since I have been mostly a GM person but when I hear people slamming another brand of vehicle and claiming theirs is the best thing since sliced bread it takes something away from this great site. I instantly discredit anything these people post as they are obviously too biased to post the truths. I seen where people bash chevy in one post and the next bitching that they have piston slap and are getting a FQR motor. Give me a break.

This is a great site. Don't ruin it with these pointless debates.

Unhappy

I can't believe this post is even allowed to continue to exist. I have been a member of the Ford-Diesel board for a long time ... this useless peice of information would have been shutdown a long time ago over their.

Even still, I like the F150 board, just not this thread.

Cool

Heard someone say chevy's make a lot more power over 3700 RPM, just wondered when the last time someone drove their stock automatic at this kinda RPM? Unless you downshift i don't think their are too many auto's that will even reach this RPM level. I dunno maybe I'm wrong...seems kinda silly to me to put an engine in a truck that only makes power at higher RPM. Isn't the purpouse of a truck to pull/tow/or carry stuff? Not do 140 around a race track. Didn't mean to offend anyone if i did but thought id put my two cents in.

Actually I could hit 5000 rpms so quickly. My trucks peak hp is at 4400 rpms so anything over you lose power. When I hit that pedal my truck goes. Who says autos are slow? lol

My company truck, a '98 Chevy 2500 Suburban with the 350 (5.7) shifts right at 5000 when I kick it in the *** (as I do often and always). Has nearly 50,000 miles on it (VERY VERY VERY HARD miles). I drive it hard, because when (IF) it blows up, I just get a new one. And believe me, I'm sick of it, and am trying my damnedest to blow it up. I'll let cha know how I do. LOL.

HI!... I don't know where you got your towing #'s from but in my F-150 brocure it says that my truck can tow 8300LBS stock. My dealer told me that I am closer to being able to tow 10,000LBS because of my 4.10 gears. Then add in all my mods and I bet it is even higher. In fact I have towed close to 9700lbs with my truck and it did it with ease.

Cool

Well here's my $.02. I was impressed by the C-3 article in Sport Truck until I got to the price tag. That just screwed up any thoughts of buying one unless I hit the lotto. My lease is up on my truck so I have been shopping for the past three months. I finnally made a decision in a '01 Sierra SLE 1500 extra cab, with 5.3, 3:73l/s, tow package (and it actually came with the equiptment)most of the toys. It is rated for towing 8300#'s which is 600#'s more than an F-150. I was able to get this for $24690.00 without any ****ering or other b/s most dealers put you through. (aapox. $1600. less than invoice) My Ford was a good truck no problems for 5 years, even the original wiperblades were just starting to go. So it wasn't cause I had a bad truck, just economics and I didn't want those bastards to talk me into another lease just so I could afford the payments. I believe there are no bad vehicles made any more they all have problems as we all have read. I work hard for my money and the dealers that listen will get my business bottom line. Good luck to you all!

8,200 lbs for my truck says it right in manual. You said 600 lbs less. That is correct. The F-150 regular cab 4X4 5.4L with 17" wheels tows 7700 lbs. With the 16" wheels it is 8200 lbs for 4X4 and 8400lbs with 4X2.

Got that directly from Ford GVWR 5500, GVCW 11500 LBS. Do the math don't forget to add 2 persons + misc. stuff to the weight of the truck first. I've been looking at trailers that are 6000+lbs. dry so it would not be hard to exceed that weight. And seeing all the postings that people are not getting what they pay for in tow packages from Ford also swayed my decision.

Talking

I just gotta jump in here. I have really enjoyed this hot post because I get a lot of crap from everybody because I love my Ford vehicles. This Ford vs Chevy rivalry is classic. It’s kind of like the ‘Hatfields vs the Mcoys’. It doesn’t look like we are going to determine a clear winner in this post, but I am going to cast my vote anyway. (Come on with the flames!)

I think Fords are the best… Why, because I have 34 more payments left on my 2001 SCrew and ain’t nobody here (or anywhere else) going to convince me that I made a mistake buying my Ford truck. LOL! My opinion is just that. MY OPINION! I’m sure if there is a Chevy owner reading this, he ain’t going to change to Fords just because I say so. So, I am not going to waste my time trying to convert anyone.

Let’s keep this post going, because I am gathering stuff to say to the next time an ‘under-developed mind’ say that cute phrase ‘Find On the Road Dead’. I just laugh and tell them, “I never heard that before.” I have always heard that Ford stands for ‘First On Race Day’. (Hey that could another post, What does FORD mean to you?).

Thumbs down

FORD stands for fix or repair daily. I laugh when people say that. Haven't had one problem with truck so far. I have a leed foot to. Runs smooth at idle. Best truck I had ever driven. Chevy gets 2 thumbs down for me. Thats my opinion

F*O*R*D-----Fine Off Road Device....everyone on this thread that has the "HE STARTED IT" attitude should be ashamed of themselves. I am probably one of the younger guys on this site at 23 yrs., and I am amazed at the immaturity some of you guys are displaying. Thank you to the people who have kept a cool head in here. This thread needs to be closed.
