Same here...both of my factory ordered trucks had the darn filter on way too tight! I didn't break anything getting them off [or lose a hammer in a tree .

I think they were having a contest at the factory to see who could get the oil filters on the tightest....geez!

I didn't buy the wrenches with changing filters in mind, now the big one is in my trucks toolbox, not in the house . . . ! Which means I'm going to have to get another set just to stop the running back and forth.

after spending 30 minutes trying to get the filter off my '02 KR i gave up and took my truck to my boyfriends father and begged him to do it for me.

i hate asking men for help!

i wasn't giving up on my sisters '02 ranger i spent a good 45 minutes and have bruises up and down my right arm, but dang i got the darn thing off. her truck takes the same filter as mine....thought that to be odd.....to bad it didn't take the same oil.

not looking forward to changing mom's '02 fx4

This should be a no brainer,
First Oil Change Should be done at a dealership, not even a fast lube place. That way, if they break it, strip it, bend it, score it, whatever! It's the dealerships problem. from then on, have at it yourselves.

???? Are you guys trying to pull the filter while while the engine is still hot/warm????

Had a similar problem the first night I tried changing the filter on the F150. Got pissed off, went inside, had a couple beers, went to bed. Next morning, went out to the garage, engine is cold, filter spun right off, no problem. Moral of the story, I think it was the beer that solved the problem. heheheheheheheheheh.
