Crash1:

Hey guys. I have really enjoyed reading this thread. I just ordered a 2001 5.4L S/C and I will be anxious to add some real power to it. Now let me tell you what I have in the garage: A Blown 1999 Mustang Saleen. I just sold it on EBAY so that I can order my truck.
http://members.aol.com/rugaz18285/Saleen.jpg

It is very difficult to part from, however I do a lot of duck hunting and ATV riding. The Saleen is not the best at towing and off-roading!

One other reasons I sold it was because I was getting tired of all these kids pulling up to me with their Mustang GT's and wanting to race me. I will probably find myself in the same position when my truck arrives! Geeze! I have been bouncing around reading many of the topics posted here. This is a great site. Although there seems to be many opinions, how can I find out the best course of action to improve power? Should I start with one upgrade at a time? For instance which F/M mufflers? (40 or 50 series), 2.5" or 3" exhaust?

Some of the things I have been looking at are Superchip, Airforce One Filter System (or K&N, not sure which is better), Flowmaster Mufflers (Delta Series 50's?)

Crash can I contact you? Any help would be appreciated.

Thumbs up

Duckem,

It's funny you say that, I go looking for Mustangs to race too!

Please feel free to link to my "Trixters-Playground" e-mail address below or call ANYTIME! I would love to hear from you!

I am happy to answer all your questions objectively, and even happier to share my satisfaction! It really is a thrill being blown!

It seems my PCM has adapted to the blower, and I feel it is now making more power than it did on my last dyno run. The best part is, the Superchip is not even here yet! The next step from the "Bag of Trix" is exhaust!

I look forward to hearing from you, I will ENSURE you the best deal!

Cool

I have an MPEG of my latest dyno run. Max torque 305 ft/lbs to the ground (without the chip)!

If anyone wants to know how this truck sounds at WOT, send me an e-mail, and I will be happy to send it to you. It's only 15 sec, but you will definitely get the full effect!

I am still running the stock exhaust, so the sound is all blower! It really is unreal!

The best part is, if I drive normally, you can't even hear it!

If interested, please link to the "Trixters-Playground" e-mail address in the above post.

Hi Crash, I hope you got the factory air induction I mailed you. I have not been home to check my e-mail in two weeks. My new transmission can be found at www.lentechautomatics.com and its is the Strip Terminator, sounds bad huh?

I did, and it is much appreciated!

I haven't swapped it out yet, but I hope to satisfy the curiousity of others. I do not feel it will out perform the PVC, but I will give it a shot!

Thanks again, it's been a real pleasure!

Keep in touch. Call anytime!

I just ordered an 80 mm Pro M MAF calibrated to 19 lb injectors. I will let you know what it does for me on the next Dyno run.

Cool

My Superchip is here! It has the Magnacharger custom program.

I should have it installed tonight, and within the next few days, I will let you know how well it performs!

Well,

The chip install is a snap, and I am very impressed!

Drivability is much improved. Idle quality is better. Shifts are much smoother, and the rev-limiter is at a higher RPM. Economy is better as well.

I understand the top-end limiter is now gone, but I haven't pushed it over 100mph... yet...

I found two MAIN benefits of adding the chip to a BLOWN 4.6.

One, MORE POWER!

Two, the engine runs much cooler with a richer mix!

It is definitely worth the money!

Hi Crash, I knew you would be impressed with the chip! Congrats. Now when you open up the exhaust you will get the full effect of everything. My tranny is supposed to be in this week. The truck has been down for a month but it will be worth it in the long run. Here is the latest, as I said before,I bought the Pro M 80 mm MAF calibrated for the 19 lb injectors and the shop is building a custom tube for it so the K&N will be gone. I am looking into a BBK TB and should have the info when I get home. It will be either a 70 or 75 mm TB. The transmission is different than first reported. I am buying an Art Carr race preped 2000 to 2400 stall, and now for the kicker, I am installing 4:10 gears which should complete the package. When all this "stuff" is installed and I have any bugs worked out of it, then it is back to the dyno for another torque/horse power run, along with a fuel/air ratio run. If I am still too rich then I will send the chip back for a little tweeking. That is all I can do with the present block, heads and cam that came from the factory. Stay tuned!

I forgot that I also ordered a smaller pully to bring me from 5 psi to 7 or 8 psi. Hopefully the pully will be there when I get home. These new mods should make a good difference from my last run and should find me running my first 1/4 mile soon.

Damn,

You do have it goin' on, Flatsman!

I can't wait to hear about the next dyno run, and I am looking forward to seeing your E.T. I want to know what kind of competition I will be dealing with (all in fun of course).

Aside from the exhaust, I am also considering increasing plenum volume and adding the TB and MAF. I am not done yet!

Let me know as soon as you dyno!!!!

It sure is nice having a support group for adrenaline junkies!!!

Crash1,
Is your ram air hood functional?I was reading the october issue of sport truck magazine and on page 53 there is a ram air hood by ProFinish and JBA racing made a box to route the fresh air to the induction system.Looks interesting.wonder how much it helps.what do ya think.

Yes, you can expect at least a 20hp increase.

I don't have that issue. Do they have a website? Will you please post or e-mail me info on them? I want to see if it will fit my hood.

Thanks for the info!
