Post What type of braking system do I have?

I need to replace my front rotors. There are two different types depending on what type of braking system you have. How can I find out which type I have. I have a 1997 4x2 XLT extended cab short bed with a v6. Please help quickly, my brakes are driving me crazy. Thanks for you help.

The only two different "types" that I can think of on that truck would be the standard rear-wheel ABS, or the optional (but standard on Lariat) 4 wheel ABS. You would have the rear ABS only, unless the truck was bought with the 4W ABS option. If you want to double check, look under the front at the backside of the spindle. 4W ABS will have a wire cable to each front wheel (don't confuse with the brake hose ) for the ABS wheel speed sensor at each front wheel. I guess the front rotors for the rear-ABS only don't have the ABS tooth wheel pressed on them, like the 4W ABS do, that's probably why the difference in rotor part numbers.
