Cool

This is from a SVT mailing list I was on dated Nov. 20 1998. My reply is the bottom one. It's about time they got around to it.

I would not trust the SN95's parking brakes at all. I've heard of many letting go unexpectedly. Mine was out of adjustment big time when I first bought it (used), but the dealer fixed that, and it's fine- for now I guess. Always put it in 1st on a hill in these cars. Although I've parked my Ranger on our steep drive for 6 years with just the e-brake holding it, I wouldn't do the same with the Mustang.

The Ranger is gone now. And no more steep driveway.

I had a 94 and 96 GT's with 5 speeds and I sometime would take off forgetting to release the parking brake and it would drive with no problem like that but in my truck if I forget to release it and try to drive off it isn't going any where until I release it. So after hearing of the recall I was glad I bought this truck intead of another Mustang GT.

I can personally vouch for this recall. Last month a newly hired lady at our plant had me paged at one of our remote plants, only to tell me that her "Mustang" had rolled down the hill, (only about two parking lot lengths) and parked itself under the rear end on my brand new 2000 F-150. At first I thought she was kidding around and that someone had put her up to this, but it was real. Luckly, I only had some of her white paint on the lower part of my rear bumper, which I polished off with some metal polish. Her car impacted(sp?) on my reece(sp?) hitch. the hitch cutt a 1'(foot) slit up the left corner of her hood, and busted out her driver side head light, and pushed the driver side front fender into her door. She said it was going to cost $1400.00 with used parts to get it repaired. She also said that she was going to speak with ford about getting them to pick up the bill. Sorry to bore ya, just wanted to share the info.
