Tire Sizes

I am about to buy new tires for the Truck.. I have read some threads but just for a refresher

What are the biggest size tires I can put on a 16" rim with no lift.

I have heard 33's will fit.. no problem but then I also heard they will rub..

Please let me know

Thanks in advance
Scott

I have had Goodyear AT-s in the 305/70-16 (33x12.5x16) and am currently running BF Goodrich AT-KO's of the same size on 16x8 AR Pythons with no rub. ('01 Screw 4x4, no lift).

305/75/16 with very minimal rubbing but can be fixed with slight trimming that is hardly visible when done.

Hmm...Does anyone even MAKE a 305/75-16?

I can't find them. (Of course I did limited searching thru Goodyear and BF Goodrich). I have only seen 305/70-16's.

The 305/70's will fit on a 16x8 with no trimming needed, while you may need to trim the lower valance some if you choose a 16x10 rim.

Generally this is what you are going to find. There is a chance that the 305's because it's wider many rub a little. If you don't do much off road driving you will be OK with the larger tires. If you do drive off road a lot the 285's tire will give the height and little more room in your wheel well and probably would be better, because it's narrower, hope that helps.

(16 inch Tire Size Comparison)
285/75-16 is about 33x11.5-16
and
305/70-16 is about 33x12.5-16

If anyone is interested 17's are similar.

(17 inch Tire Size Comparison)
285/70-17 is about 33x11.5-17
and
305/70-17 is about 33x12.5-17

Tire Size

rkjerue the tire is not really my worry i currenlty run the 285 however i have just purchased new wheels and the offset is more on the new wheel than on the current wheel i have on the truck. As far as tire size goes you can find the exact tire height by looking at a post I put up that gives the formula for figureing it out the 285 and the 305 are the same both 32.8 however the 305 is wider by about an inch like you pointed out. I do appreciat the reply and trying to help though so thanks .
