305.70.r17 Tires, Stock Rims
I want to buy new bfg all terrain 305's and put them on my stock 17" rims. Every truck that i see pictures of on here with bigger tires on stock rims the tires dont stick out the sides of the truck at all. I want my tires to stick out on the sides a little bit. Is there any way to make this possible without buying new rims? Or if I buy the tires will they stick out on the sides just by buying bigger tires and putting them on stock rims? I have heard of wheel spacers i think they call them. Dont know where to get them or if they would do any damage?

I think that to get the tire to stick out a little further your gonna need rims. I went from a 255-75-16(stock) to a 285-75-16 and the tires still dont stick out at all. This was as wide a tire as I could go on these rims too. Im planning on cranking my bars a little and going up to a 305-75-16 on a 16x10 rim. Just waiting on some money to spend first.

I hear the money issue, I want to keep my nice crome 17" rims but I want 33 x 12.5 " tires and for them to stick out the sides of the truck a little. Has anyone here had experiance with the spacers you can install between the hub and rim, or will the 33 x 12.5" already stick out when installed????

Everytime I see you post it just throws me into more confusion. I can't decide wether or not to get the 285's or the 305's. I have heard people say they rub when the wheel is turned all the way or when the suspension is fully articulated. I have heard from you that you don't have these problems. How long have you had your tires??? Have you seen any wear on the tires or noticed any wear in the steering??? Did you do an alignment when you got the tires or any time after that??? My tire guy says the 305 will fit and I really want that size but don't want to spend that kind of money and have them not fit. Please let me know so I can try and make a final decision.
Thanks.

I have the 33/12.5/17 Procomp M/T's...gotta love www.4wheelparts.com!!! They fit and look great, no rub or T-bar issues. I can not get over how quiet these rugged tires are. Best of all, they are warranteed for life!!! Sorry I have no pics now and I know that sucks cause when I was searching on tires, I always wanted pics but could not find many. I will have pics in my gallery sometime soon hopefully (whenever it gets above freezing, but it hasnt the entire month of January so I may have to wait till spring).

I would stay away form anything other than new rims to get your tires to stick out more. It is a little easier for cars to use them cuz they don't useally see anything other than street that would put a lot more stress on the suspension. If you want them to stick out more than you are going to have to bite thae bullet and get new rims with a greater backspacing. I have a question though...why whenever I read posts on this site do people want to put 12.5 width tires on 10" wide rims? With that wide of a rim the tire doesn't provide as much protection form rocks and stuff. I even know guys who are running 12.5" wide tires on 7" wide rims with no problem. IMO the buldge that you get from a little narrower rim looks sooo much better. Just my $.02

I want to run some 17x10's in place of my 7.5 stockers with some 35x12.50 because a) with stock backspacing, you'll get a couple inches of tire stickout (not too much but I like to have a little), and b) I just like the way 12.50's fit on a 10" rim better than an 8" rim. And since I may 'wheel 5% of the time, I'd rather have the look I want 95% of the time than the potential added protection a narrower rim may provide. Just personal preference, I guess. It's a good thing we all don't like the same things, or else our trucks would be carbon copies of each others!
