99 F150 Stud Bolt Sizes?!? WTF!

Hi Powerstroke73,
The lightning rims do not use acorn style lug nuts. There chrome with the washer on the backside. Your right about the wheels being hubcentric, but from what I was told, and I'm not 100% sure of the validity, there will be a slight gap between the studs and the holes holes if you put wheels made for 14mm studs onto trucks with 12mm studs. This is why I ordered the "spacers" to take up the gap. Again, it very well may not be needed but I bought them just to be on the safe side.

Unless SVT wheels are different (don't really know why they would be) the stud holes are the same size on standard stock F150 wheels. Heck I've got a spare from a truck with 14mm studs on my 97 with no problems running it. Like I said this holds true for the common wheels, but SVTs might be different.

According to ford the lug size changed on NOV 13-25th 1999. Thank you to whom ever wrote about the 15mm hole on all rims from 97 to present shed some ligt on my problem. Only other problem i have is I want locking lugs for my new aluminum wheels. I want open end nuts (12mm) that match the new lug nut ford is useing (flat washer style not acorn) A. does any one know the name of that damn lug nut style and B. does any know how I can get some with out going through ford. I don't want chrome and I don't want closed end nuts. These are going under a center cap Who cares what they look like as long as they help keep some one from helping them selves to my investment.
best regards
John

Sounds like shank size would be the same if the hole is 15mm in the wheels.
Locking lug nuts are expensive but you only need one set of 4, one locking one on each wheel. To get 4 x 4 sets of locking nuts is going to the extremes of theft-proof!! Besides, in case you lose one or more of the keys for those lug nuts it may be a pain to have them removed.
