Rear Brakes lock up
I have a 97 F150 with rear abs brakes, Problem is that when i step on the break just a little to quick they lock up on me. I looked at the drums and they dont seem to be too tight, they spin easly. My ABS light is not lit, any suggestions? I did replace the shoes and the drums are smooth, did not turn them.
thanks

Something in there is not right. The brake hardware or self adjusting equipment is there is out of adjustment or something is worn/broke and needs fixing. You said the drums were not turned which may be an OK thing but did you relube all the fiction areas. Also, it could be a problem with a rear wheel cylinder. I would suggest taking the drums back off and checking everything out. For the cost of it (less than $12) I would replace the brake hardware if it hasn't been done.

Ford has a TSB about this for the 1997-2000 with rear drums/ABS.
I don't personally find this too troubling. Normally, I back out of my driveway and that one stop in reverse is enough to remove the moisture. A single low speed stop should be all that's necessary.
I've also heard that the revised brake show kit that Ford recommends to deal with this doesn't help.
If this happens constantly, instead of on just the first few stops, then there is certainly a problem. But, your Brake! indicator lamp would most likely be on if a sensor failed or picked up on something serious.

ISSUE
A grabbing condition from the rear brakes during the first few brake applications after extended humidity exposure may occur on some vehicles. This may be caused by a rear brake lining that is sensitive to humidity exposure.
