Ultimate Verdict On 315/70/17?
Hey guys was wondering what the final say is on whether or not the 315/70/17's will fit on a stock 2002 supercrew fx4 with the torsion bars cranked? I know there will have to be some trimming but i wanna see some proof. So please reply with links to your rides and let me see cuz i need new tires pretty quick........ Thanks Fellas

20-02SCREW, Does the FX4 come with a 4 inch lift kit as its option? To fit 35's, or in the case of 315-70-17s (34.5's) you'll need a 4 inch suspension lift. With this, you'll need very minor trimming of the front valance to prevent rubbing. I'm pretty sure that without a 4 inch or greater lift, you'll have rubbing problems. Steve

Well, I used to be of the firm opinion that 285's were the biggest that could be fitted on our 4x4 trucks with no lift (which is why I bought 285's), but I saw a '03 FX4 with 315's being put on at the local truck accessory store. They were mounted on the stock FX4 wheels. The guy worked there. I told him I didn't think they would fit, he said he knew they would.
Long story short, a few weeks later, I was at the accessory store and asked him about it. He said only minor valance trimming and he had no rubbing anywhere. He told me where his truck was parked and to feel free to check it out. I did. I was amazed. The truck looked great! He only trimmed a small triangle off the inside of the valance. About 2"x2" x1". The trimmed area could only be seen by sticking my head into the wheel well and looking at the back of the valance.
He has no lift. I say go for it if that is what you want. If I still have a 150 (instead of the 250 that I would like to have) when I wear these 285's out, I am going with the 315's myself.

I forgot to add that there is a member here who has the 315's. his handle is AZSCREW . He has a gallery with pics, but the pics are not that good. It is hard to really see how the tires look on the truck. He has posted about the tires in the SuperCrew section. You can go there and read all about his experiences with the 315's. He seems to be really pleased with them.
Here is a link to his gallery. https://www.f150online.com/galleries...w.cfm?num=3807

FX4
All, I've seen several FX4s and it looks like they do have some kind of suspension lift, especially sitting side by side with a regular F-150 4x4. Does anybody know for sure? They're definitely taller than a stock F-150!! Be careful, I really don't think 35's/315-70's will fit without some lift!!

The FX4 has no lift. I have heard that the torsion bars are cranked from the factory, and I believe that is fact. My brother has a '03 FX4 SCrew. Our trucks have been parked side by side many time. Our trucks are virtually the same height. Mine is slightly taller all around (can't really tell by casual sight) because my tires are slightly larger.. But, the rake of our trucks are the same. Mine is not FX4, his is, but I have cranked my torsion bars, he has not.
Anyway....the FX4 has no lift at all over the non-FX4. just the bars are probably cranked which only raises the front. This can be done in a non-FX4 in about 10 minutes. The FX4 package is nothing but Rancho-labeled shocks(ORP shocks painted white with a red boot), skid plates (I have them on mine as an option), and a sticker at the rear of the bed on both sides. That's it.
The 315's should fit just fine whether you have a FX4 or not.
Look for AZSCREW in the SuperCrew forums for the opinions of someone who actually knows how the 315's work before you decide. Ask him what he thinks about it. He is the only member here who comes to mind who has done this. I know I have read of others, but cannot remember their handles at the moment.

I have the 315/70/17 BFG's on my2003 Screw with the factory FX4 wheels and love them. I had the TBars adjusted 1" and minor triming. I did not think they would fit when I saw them, but am pleased to say they do The dealer told me that they do not fit under any other factory truck other than F150's.

If you have the FX4 package, you WILL have a tach, but that is because they do not put the FX4 pkg on a truck with such a low trim level that does not have tach already included.
On the vehicle window sticker, the items listed for the '03 FX4 option are the shocks, skids, and the 17" wheels. (I can't remember if the sticker is actually listed or not.)
36fan... after reading over what I typed before posting it, it looks as though it could be mistaken for bashing you for your input. I hope you don't take it that way, because I do not mean it as such, my friend. We are all Ford brothers sharing information here. I just wanted to set it straight from what I have read on the FX4 equipped window sticker for the sake of information.
Happy truckin' all
