Biggest tire for Stock 4x4?
My buddy's got a 97 F150, and wants to put some big azz tires on it.
Right now he's stock, but i cranked up the torsion bars on the truck tonight and lifted it 1.5" up front, and he's doing 2" rear blocks this weekend he said.
anyway, whats the biggest tire he can fit with just the torsion bars craked up and trimming the valance some? 33's?
Please post tire size (as in P275/45/R20's) and the dimensions (as in 33x12). Thanks for any help!
o yeah, i think he's got 17's stock, not sure, but i think he's getting new rims anyway when he gets tires, not sure.
pics help too!

WARNING!!!
Well I had my bars cranked almost all the way and let me tell you DO NOT do it I discovered a problem last night while under the truck to check something else out. What I discovered is that with the bars cranked up that much 1. the CV angles are to severe 2. My tire was rubbing the sidewall on a part of the lower control arm that sticks out when turning to full lock right or left. I discovered this becuase I had this big black line on the sidewall of the tire. Now I am only running LT285/75/16's so for someone running an even larger tire I will almost guarntee this is going to be a problem and not one that you will feel or hear when driving I didn't. It will eventually wear away enough sidewall material that you could get a blowout. I am going to take a frw pituires of what it was rubbing on and post them in my gallery someitme next week probably. The little area it was rubbing on I honestly thought about grinding off I am not sure it really serves a purpose. It is just a **** that sticks off of the front of the lower control arm. You can check my galery for pictures of what happen.

Yes I am sure the offset on the wheels does in fact have a little to do with the tire rubbing however I recently installed Heavy Duty torsion bars and decided to crank the adj. bolts in which raised the truck about 3 inches. I had absolutely NO rubbing prior to cranking the new torsion bars I did have the original bars cranked as well and had no rubbing then either.so it did have something to do with the cranking of the torsion bars and possibly the fact that maybe the Heavy Duty bars may in fact lift the truck much more than the stock bars and the offset on the wheels also contributed to it. It was not just becasue of the wheels though. I POSTED A PIC IN MY GALLERY OF THE RUBBING

That tab it is rubbing is there to place the factory jack under to jack that tire up off the ground. If you can determine that not much material would have to be removed from that tab to eliminate the rubbing, you could grind some off with a sidegrinder. I'm sure that enough could be removed from the tab and still be used for a jack point.
If you decide you don't need the tab, cut it off alltogether.
