White Letters in or out?

Getting new tires over the next few months.

When I had the Bridgstones put on I opted for black letters out, white letters in.

Any opinions?

Depending upon the truck I like both looks. What I really DON'T like is seeing white letters on the inside of the tire.

I used to go white letters out, but it is a PITA to keep them clean year round. If these are also you winter tires, white letters in.

During the 6 months of winter, they look like crap, and are a PITA to keep clean is what I found out after 5 years of having white letters out.

Good luck with your decision.

Depends on the truck, some look much better with the black out. I currently have mine white out but when I put new ones on it will be black out.

I prefer the white letters out, but they can be a b**** to keep clean. I suppose that it's up to you on what you like. As for me, I go with the white letters out for that sporty look.

Nothing looks nicer than a set of clean OWL on the sidewalls of your tires after you shine (Armor All or whatever you use) them. IMHO, its the one single thing you can do to significantly improve the looks of your truck. And if you're going to spend any time at all taking care of your truck, washing, waxing, etc., a few extra minutes on the tires isn't going to kill you. Especially if you spend time cleaning and shining the blackwalls anyway.

But I also think its a matter of personal preference and what looks good on your truck. I don't think OWLs look good on every truck. And they are a PITA to keep clean during the winter months even in a fairly mild climate like we have in the area of Virginia where I live.

So you decide what looks good on your truck. For me and my King Ranch, I prefer the OWL out.

I use Wesley's Whitewall cleaner or a Brillo with no problems.

I considering my next set to be mounted with the white letters in. I'm not one to continually work to keep letters looking bright and white so black is fine with me. Also think it will go well with my truck. Ultimate decision is what you think is best.

One other thing to consider is 'scuffing'. I had a set of brand new OWL tires turned in on my wife's SUV since she has a tendency to clip corners/curbs on occasion. One good scuffing of an OWL tire and it can look bad forever. For my money, keep the blackwalls out.

I think that there is a place for both looks. It is determined by the type of vehicle, color, rims, amount of chrome just to name a few factors. I just don't like the look of white letters when I'm looking under a vehicle or viewing it's profile. Am I the only one that this bothers?

They'll go black on their own eventually, but because I don't personally like seeing them until they do go black, I gave the ones installed on my wife's SUV a shot of satin black spraypaint after they were installed. Cured the issue immediately.
