Question White Letters in or out?

Got a red 2001 4x4 and looking to put some BFG All-Terrain 285/70/17's on it.

Do you prefer the white letters in (black) or out.

I have always prefered the letters in (black) but lately I have seem some trucks with white letters out and it looks good.

They were all BFG's and I think the letters on the BFG's looks better than the other brands.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

Do you mean you can get the tire without the White Letters?
If so, I have no opinion. You will have to decide which tire you like better.

If you mean the tire comes only with White Letters and you are wondering whether to expose the letters to the world or hide them by having the tires face the undercarriage then by all means face the letters out.

For some reason it bothers me to see white letters on the inside of tires. I don't know why this is.

Whenever I see it I am overcome with rage so, if you do it and I ram you, it's your fault because I warned you about my condition on this date in front of all these witnesses.

I agree that BFG's white letters look better than most, but I still perfer their black letters.

I bought the same tire you are considering. I prefer the white letters out. I don't dislike blackwall either (depending on wheels) but what bothers me is when I see white letters under the truck if you turn them in they need to be blacked out. Just my 2 cents worth.

Beleive me, brake dust and road grime will "black out" the white letters (on the inside) very quickly.

White side out... unless your truck is blacked out to some degree.

Consider the upkeep of the whites out too...... They don't look to good when they are all dirty or all scraped up. Requires some more elbow grease to keep 'em clean, but it is worth it in the end! Can't help you on the scraped up part, as that's just how you drive!

I use that Bleach White stuff on mine. Don't get that stuff on your wheels, skin or clothes. Also, don't breath too hard while spraying it! Whatever is in it really cleans up the tires, but it's toxic otherwise!

(on a side note, have you noticed that 90% of the scraped up white letters on tires that make them look like white walls are all driven by females and usually it's a Chevy!!) (Sorry to all you female F150 drivers out there..... No disrespect meant towards you, because if you are a member here or reading this forum, I'm sure you don't scrape your tires!!

So, you don't wash the underside of your truck or the inside of your tires?

I was always of the mindset that BFGs should be mounted with the letters out, and I did this on my B2 with an old set of 33" muds I had. When I bought my current tires, they weren't white lettered, so I had no choice. However, after seeing how the tires look, I wouldn't go back to white letters out. I think the truck looks a little cleaner without highly visible BFG letters on the outside of the tires.

On another note, I don't really care to see white letters on the inside, although I could get over it if I ever bought a set of tires that were white lettered. Just my $.02
