Seems Goodyear doesn't even know for sure what the rating on the sidewall means. Check the link below and they show that the pressure listed on the sidewall is the Max Cold pressure.

Then this link, listed in an earlier response, says that it is the Max Operating pressure.

WTF????

I would have to say that the sidewall tire pressure is Max Cold and here's why: I just purchased a new set of Michelin Cross Terrain SUV tires (P265/70-17) which is the stock size listed on my door plate. The door plate says 30 front and 35 rear and the tires say 35 max.

BTW, great ride on the Michelin CT SUV -- sure was an improvement over the Firestone Wilderness ATs

I will be sure to let everyone know how they do in the Michigan winter!

I had my BFG Radial AT's mounted and they inflated them to max pressure (50 or so) at the shop. They felt like crap when I drove them out of the place. Then I was on a gravel road and almost skidded off!! I lowered the pressure and they performed 2000% better. I'd recommend 35 or so. I've got 40,000 miles on them now and they're wearing perfectly. If you're hauling heavy loads, then put them to max.
