Will 265/75/16's on a V-6 reg cab???

I ordered some tires the other day for my truck and the tire place talked me into going with the 265/75/16's. I am getting the Revo's. I asked them if the tires would fit ok since the stock ones are 235/70/16's. They said that if there was any problems they could make them work. This is making me real nervous now.

I was wondering if anyone out there has put 265/75/16's on their truck. I have a 1998 V-6 Reg Cab Long bed 4x2. Has anyone put these tires on a truck similar to mine and if so how do they fit? Do they rub at all? Any info would be greatly appriciated since the tires should be in soon.

My buddy put 265/75/16 LT tires on his '97 Supercab - fit fine, but they are much taller than his stock 235/70's. His truck is a 4.6 with 3.55 gears, btw.

Mine are 265/70/16, so they are just as wide but not nearly as tall as your new ones. I went up from 255/70/16. My odometer shows the new tires are 5% larger in diameter than my old ones, and I could feel a loss in performance due to the taller tire.

I think the tires will fit fine, but you are going to notice a major change in that you will be turning much lower rpm at any speed. With the limited low end torque of the V6, you might not like that, especially if you have a 3.08 rear gear ratio.

They Fit!!!

Well, the tires did come in the other day and they do fit!!! Thanks for your help. I did notice a small drop in power. I will have to see how it effects my gas milage. Hopefully it will not be too bad. They do look so much better though with the big tires.

As you now know they fit. I went the route of dirt bike dave.

The 265/70/16 are 1/2" larger diameter. Messes with the odometer a little, but not bad.

You went with 265/75/16. Just over an 1" larger diameter. Your mileage will suffer as will your power. I think you should have gone with an upsize to 255/70/16 but what's done is done.

Get your speedo adjusted, and maybe a gear change. Gear change will require speedo adjustment again.
