Wheel lock lugs

My truck finally came in last Saturday, and no, it didn't come with the spare tire lock. My salesman thought I was referring to the tailgate lock when he said the new trucks come with one. I do however, have updated part numbers for all available 2000 locks:

Spare tire lock: F75Z-1A380-BA, cost $32.27
Locking gas cap: F75Z-9030-GA, cost $19.43

I bought a 98 about 5 months ago and it had the locks on it and no key. Took the tire man about 5 minutes to take all four tires off. All he did was pop a socket onto the locks with a hammer and used a air drill and they came off. He said to not waste your money. If they want the tires they will just take the truck.

The torque specs should be 120 ft. lbs. The Ford locks are the same height as the lug nuts as far as I can tell. Sure they could just take your truck, but if they're just after the rims, they'll go to another truck instead.

Selva1 and dogcam;
I took delivery of a new 99 XLT Sport two months ago, and it came with the spare tire lock! It's a fairly thick coated cable with padlock that also has a rubber cover over the key hole. My salesman suggested I spray WD-40 into the lock mechanism every six months or so, because being under the truck, it really gets blasted by the elements! I was under the impression this came standard, because there's no mention of it on the sticker or the invoice!

That's a new one on me. The official Ford spare tire lock is a small plug that goes deep into the hole where the crank rod would normally engage the lowering winch, and snaps permanently in place. It has an odd indented pattern on the exposed face, like the locking wheel lugs. The key is a mating piece that attaches to the end of the crankrod before you insert it into the winch. I don't know where yours came from, but it should deter someone who doesn't come for your spare with tools. A pair of cable cutters however......
