Bad SHOCK

Does anyone know how to tell if your shock is completely broken? or what sound does it make. Last night I heard on 2 occasions a strange noise from the front suspencion. It sounded like something hit hard. Could it be a bad shock?

When the lowering kit was installed, the people found one of the shox to be completely broken (fell apart) could this be the case once more.

It has 15k miles on these shox's.

If you have a dead shock, you will hear and feel a pretty good thud when you hit a bump.

The easiest way I know of how to check your shocks is to press down on each corner of the truck with your full body weight and quickly release. The body should come right back up and bounce 2-3 times.

If you press down and the corner stays down, the shock is dead. If you press down and it doesn't go down at all like it has bottomed out, the shock is dead. If you press down and realease, and the body bounces more than 6 times, your shock is going out. For some reason, it's usually the front right shock that dies before the others.
