Post Newbie Question

If you can break down the sizing for a newbie that would be great.

17x8, 17x10, 18x8 wheels. What is the difference in size there?

And what are all the numbers in the tire size mean?

Driving an Expy 2000 baby!

In advance, thanks for the help.

The first number is the wheel heighth and the second is the wheel width. They are both in inches.

There is a lot more than just those sizes to know about. If you are looking to buy new wheels for your Expy, you need to make sure you get the right off-set and get tires that are matched to the wheels. The offset will affect clearances when turning sharp or make you SUV look like it's on rollerskates with the wheel sticking 3" outside the fenders. A tire that is say less than a 285/60/17 will look like a ballon on a 17x10. On the other hand a 285/60/17 on a 17x6 wheel will give you alot of sidewall flex in cornering and possibly "loose-it". The other numbers you wanted to know about are in the example above
285 is the tire width in Millimeters, 60 is the sidewall height in proportion to the width so 60% of 285 , 17 is the rim size 17" in diameter.
