Post 33/12.5/16.5's or 285/75/16's HELP!!!

Hey guys,

I need some advice. I have a 2000 FORD F-150 4X4 LARIAT with the offroad package. Currently, I have 260/75/17's 17x7 wheels. I have been calling around town, as well as the internet sites that offer wheel and tire packages. I'm getting mixed messages. Some say the 33/12/5/16.5 will rub and will not fit my truck. While some others say that they would fit without any major problems. I don't know who to believe. This whole ordeal is starting to become a major pain in the ***.

I really want some 33's, without lifting my truck. I also want the new wheels to stick out about an inch or two from the fender well. Does anybody have 33's on their 2000 Lariat 4x4? If so, what are the exact specs on your wheels? Tire size, rim size and any pictures, if possible.

I honestly don't see the reason to upgrade to a 285/75/16. because the overall wheel diameter isn't that much of a difference to what I have right now.

Remember, I don't want to have to lift my truck in order to accomodate bigger wheels.

Cool

I don't think the 33/12.50/16.5's will fit without a lift. My buddy, and member of this board big ED has a set with a 4" Rancho lift, and they fit great, but lookin at them on a stock 4x4 it looks like you might have a problem. Now I have the 285's and love them, and no rubbing anywhere. And by the way, 285's and the 33's are the EXACT SAME height. But the 33's are an inch wider. But good luck to ya, here is a pic of Big Ed's truck (33/12.50/16.5, along with mine (285/75/16).

yes they will fit.

You will need to do 1 of 3 things to prevent rubbing:

1. crank the front torsion bars up 1" to level the truck

2. trim some of the plastic chin spoiler around the wheel well to fit

3. unbolt the bumper and move it out abou 1".

I am still waiting for delivery of our 2000, but I am going to crank the bars up to level the truck and run 33s on it.

good luck cranking those bars and putting 33's on. You will never get it back to perfect alignment.

Question

Hi guys!

I too would like to upgrade my tire/wheel setup without resorting to a lift. As such, I purposely ordered my SuperCrew with the cheapest wheels & tires available.

Anyway, someone on the SuperCrew forum said that I'd be okay if I upgraded to 16x8 wheels and either 285/75/16s or 305/70/16s. Any advice?

here is a thread to follow about the torsion bars:
https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/000537.html

If you crank them up about 1" you will not have alignment issues.
