Bigger tires vs. Speedometer
Howdy yall... just bought me a '98 F-150 reg. cab w/ 4.6 on it and flowmaster exaust. It's got stock 16' Goodyear Wrangler tires on it, and was wanting to put 17' mud or all-terrain tires on there. I know the bigger tire will screw up the speed a little bit... but how much? I know there is a way you can re-calibrate the speedometer, but how do you do it, and if you pay somebody to do it, how much does it cost? Thanks yall.

One easy way to calibrate for tire and rear end gear changes, and chip your engine for a 1998 4.6 is to buy a Hypertech Power Programmer III. Performance features and what can be adjusted can be seen at hypertech-inc.com
