Unhappy Warped Factory Wheel

Has anyone else had this little malfunction? While driving from N.C. to FL. I heard a rubbing sound. When I stopped to check the noise, I noticed that the inside of the front drivers side wheel was rubbing against the brake assembly (grinding the wheel). I had it towed to ford, they replaced the wheel and it seems fine but what caused it??? They said possibly the wheel warped!

Was there any vibration before you noticed the noise? Did they replace the rim also??
