Wrangler RT/S Love 'em or Hate 'em ?

I have the tires in question. It's an interesting tire. On dry pavement, I can barely spin them going straight. On slight turns, from a stop, they spin like crazy.
In rain, going straight after a stop, they spin. Easily. On turns, they spin too. However, at speed, they hold the road in rain.
They appear to be wearing quite well. They get rotated every 5,000 miles. I'll probably turn the truck in way before they wear out.
I figure I'll keep them since we don't get much rain. Hell, it could have been worse. They could have been Firestones!

Both my 98 and 2000 F-150's came with RT/S tires. And both of them are terrible on wet roads.
I contacted Goodyear and they offered to replace the tires on my 2000 at no charge (I only have 5000 miles on it). I am not at all happy with the RT, so they are applying the regular retail price of the RT/s toward the purchase of a set of AT/s.
I haven't seen them yet, but I will NOT miss the RT/s.

Has anyone tried siping their tires? I've seen some people do it at home with a utility knive approximately 1/4" deep with great Success. Some tire stores will sipe tires as well if you feel a bit uneasy in doing it yourself. I am about to trade my chrome steel wheels for some 17" alloy's that are from a 2000 ORP with 4000 miles on it. I currently have 23,000 on my AS/T's. The AS/T's seem to be a good tire but are rather noisy no matter what mileage you rotate them at. Anyway the 2000 has RS/T's, I had the same tire on my 98 Ram Quad and did'nt have any problem with them.

I thought about siping, but was afraid if I did it, I'd open up another can of worms. I'd be guessing at how far apart to put them and in what direction and on what parts of the tread, etc.
If anybody's wondering what we're talking about, take a look at the sole of a boat deck shoe, such as Sperry Topsiders. The cuts in the sole are sipes.
