Unhappy svt rims do not fit, help

i just lower my truck 2" in front and 2"in the rear. i also installed svt rims with 265/60/18 avs yokohamas. nice set up but the rims are rubbing in the inside and the only solution we came up with was 1/4: spacers. is this the best way? any help will be appreciated.

I've used spacers before, but I strongly suggest you never tow anything heavy. Also be sure to check your lug nuts VERY often (use a torque wrench). Spacers are ok, but I've read that they're not recommended on trucks.

veloci,

where is it rubbing? I just put on my lightning rims tonight and I have almost the same tire as you: 285/60/18. If I cranked my wheels all the way, they slightly hit a brake hose. I carefully bent the bracket the hose was mounted to and everything is ok now. I suprised your's are rubbing since they are not as wide as mine. Let me know about your situation. To tell you the truth, I'm a little nervous about anything still rubbing. By the way, my truck is a '97 and it is lowered 3 in the front and 4 in the back.

Thanks,
Josh

veloci,
I don't think spacers are a good idea because the wheels are hubcentric. The spacer will make it lugcentric & if the wheel isn't designed for acorn style lug nuts, you could develop a vibration. I think even if you have acorn lug nuts, just going from hubcentric to lugcentric could cause a vibration.

I think the backspacing for the SVT wheels is 5.5" or 5.625", which would rub the head of the screw that holds the brake hose bracket to the outer lip of the lower control arm. Relocate the bracket to the inside part of the control arm & you should be OK.

Thank you jlaird,d reyes and jupiterak, i think i am going to check the brake hose bracket because i do have a vibration. i had the wheels rebalaced and the vibration still there, it must be because of the spacer. i will keep you posted.
