Question 235's vs. 255's

I have a totally stock '97 extended cab (4x2) f150 with the V6 engine and its time for new tires. A friend just baught a 2000 model (he has a V8 engine though) and has already upgraded his tires and rims. He offered me the stock tires and rims (with only 2k miles) that came off when he made his upgrades. Ford recommends 235-70-16's for my truck, his came equipped with 255-70-16's. I had Wilderness AT's, his are Goodyear's. I do lots of highway driving and don't want to sacrifice milage.

1) Is there any advantage to sticking with 235's?
2) If I buy his tires, should I see any change in performance, milage, handling, etc.?

Thanks,

I think they changed the lug nuts in 2000 and i don't know if the rims will work.
235 to a 255 os no problem.
I went from 255 to 275 and lost a little off the line but the truck rides and looks 100% better.
Speedo is about 3% off too.

the only advantage of 255 VS 235 tires is the ride of your truck will be a little smother. the disadvantages are thea you will lose a little performance and your speedometer and odometer will be thrown off a little. your stock tire hight(235/70/16) is about 28.95" where as the the other tire hight(255/70/16) is about 30.05"

what did they change the lugs nuts from? to? I do think there may be a diff between the v6 and the v8 lugs though, my 2000 5.4 has larger lug nuts then my friends 2000 4.2. btw, the wheels from his truck still firt mine, we tried out a wheel to see.

I went from the 235's to the 255's. I have to say it wasn't that much of a difference. The truck is more stable then it was with the 235's, plus they fill up the wheel wells better. I didn't notice any power loss but it goes a little faster at the same rpm level then it did with 235's.

premier 720, pioneer 6cd changer, 12 premier sub, premier componets, 2 soso amps

still to come: new spark plug wires, new rims and tires, maybe a supercharger eventually.
