Question Biggest Tire on STOCK Wheels

What is the biggest tire you can put on the stock rims.
I want a bigger more aggresive look but can't shell out $600 for tires THEN another $600 for rims.

Good question. I was just about to ask the same one myself. I want the BFG 285/75/16. Not sure if they will fit.

Been running the 285/75 BFGs on the "X" for three years on the 16x7 factory rims. I wouldn't run anything larger because it would be difficult when airing-down.

Keep in mind that each manufacturer lists the min/max rim size for a given tire.

Thumbs up

54regcab,
I just put on BFG 285/75/16 on my Supercrew. Not sure about using the 7 in rims. I did change to 8in Rims. They do fit good and no rubbing at all. I had 17 in so I had to change to the 16x8 for fit. Man does it handle alot better. Total cost was $1050 Take a look. www.geocities.com/r8412

285/75R16 is a 32.8x11.2. I have 32x11.50 on my stock 16x7" rims w/zero rubbing, ever.

Absolutely!!!!

285/75/16

Prefferably the BFG T/A KO's
www.bfgoodrichtires.com

has all the numbers in a PDF format

For our 16x7" rims, these make the most sense...

So, I agree, 285/75/16 BFG TA KO for me also.

another 8k mi. and mine go on.

Actually, you should go with the middle of the range for the tire of interest.

265/75 wants 7.5" rims (7-8" range) -
therefore 7" will do.

Even 275/70 wants 8" (7-9" range).
And, 285/75 (7.5 - 9") of course wants 8"

Obviously, people have put 285's on 7" rims. It bows out the center of tread a little, so you will not get optimal tread wear/life. But can/has be done.

Another concern is how well/close the spare fits against exhaust pipe - if you still have it back there.

In regards to the spare, anything larger than a 255/70 16 will not fit if you have a reciever hitch.my stock wheel&tire just barely squeezed in there.
