Question Larger Tires, higher axle ratio?

Hi,

I'm about to order a 2001 5.4 4x4 ORP SC and was wondering about the rear axle ratio. I'm planning on putting larger tires onto the truck about 10,000 miles after I get it and was wondering what rear axle I should get. I was planning on the 3.55LS, but I've read in a couple other threads that larger tires reduce the rear axle ratio. I want to keep performance with larger tires, so I'm not sure what to do. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but this will be my first truck and I'm not a genius with trucks.

Thanks

the only dumb qustion is the one not asked.I have a v-6 and the 3.55-went from 255/70 16 to 265/75 16 and could barely feel power loss.It really depends on how big a tire you want to go to. anything bigger than what I got I think you would need atleast the 3.73 rear end.4x4 trucks have a front and rear axle ratio.the front comes matched to the rear.at least this is my enderstanding of it.If you do aftermarket gears they need to match.
