33x12.50s on a stock F150?
I have a 1999 4x4 Supercab F150 sport with a 5.4L V8, automatic, and 17" stock wheels. The only 17" tire I can find is the pro comp 33x12.50x17 and I am not sure if it will fit without rubbing or not. i have heard people say both ways, but I have not talked to anyone who has actually driven a truck with 33s. I will probably buy new wheels anyway so I will have either 16" or 16.5" wheels. I would still like to run 33x12.50s on the new wheels if they will fit, but I would rather be able to buy BFGs than pro comp tires. If 285s are the best I can do without destroying my fenderwells, I guess I will ahve to settle for that....Please respond to this post or email me directly if you have any information about this. 4 wheel parts told me that 33s will in fact fit, but tyres international said that nothing larger than 275s will fit without rubbing. I want to buy bigger tires so my truck doesn't look so wimpy with the little 275s.
Thanks everyone!
I just ordered my superchip and I'll let you know how it works.

Had an in dash TV and PC with 13 gig hard drive full of MP3s-until I almost crashed trying to double click the mouse at 80MPH....

I have the ProComp MT's on the ORP 17" rims and I have had no problems at all.
I don't own a camara, so I cant show you what they look like, but I have had plenty of compliments, even from Chevy owners.

How do those ProComps ride and do off-road? Do they rub? Are they noisy on the highway? Get some pics scanned , that exactly what I want to do.
Thanks,

Jetpilot,
I run BFG's 285/75/16 on my Supercrew without any problems. I had 17 in 265/70/17 before. No rub and didn't have to cut anything. If you go much bigger you will need to lift your truck or cut around fender wall. Take a look at www.geocities.com/r8412

Hey FordOutfitter,
Took a look at your truck - looks great!
You may have similar issue to me with you SuperCrew 5.4 4x4 & Tow Pkg. I have an '98 F-250 LD 4x4 SC 5.4 w/tow pkg. Other than my gears being at 3.73 we may have similarclose overall vehicle weight (mine being an F-250 and yours being a SuperCrew. Close but not exact.)
When you went to the BFG's 285/75/16 (w/American Racing Baja 172), did you do anything to the tranny reduction gear to return/correct the speedo (would also put shift points back).
Or maybe change axle gears, or add a Superchip, or anything else to fix power loss due to effective axle ratio change and speedo being off?
And BTW, how much "felt" power loss was there due to the tire size jump?
Thanks
Frank

285's will fit fine with no rubbing but 33/12.50/16.5's will not. My best friend has 33/12.50/16.5 BFG's on his truck and they rubbed, even with a 4" Rancho lift. The only timed they rubbed was on lock to lock turns on the valence, but that is still rubbing. But now however thet don't rub anymore cause he just installed a 3" body lift to make room for 36/15.50 16.5's. So on a stock F150 4x4 33/12.50's are gonna rub, guarantee it.
Here's a pic of his truck with 33's before body lift:

Hey Mudder, the pics of Big Ed's body lift didn't go through, I'd like to see it. I do however have to say, that I did indeed run 33x12.50x16.5 BFG M/T's before my lift and 35's. I had NO rubbing problems whatsoever. I did crank my torsion bars to lift front end about 1.5-2" and it did the trick. So, in my case, 33's cleared fine, but now I'm bigger.

33's will fit. I have the stock mud flaps and they required a little trimming but no one can tell. Go for the 33's, they look great!
I would like to know however if the 33/16.5's fit. I would like to put some bigger meats on my Crew when it gets here - if it ever gets here! I have not been very happy with the balance of the Goodyears. They look, handle and 4x4 great but shimmy a little more than I would like. Everyone else I have talked to with them have had no problems. So, either I am too picky or the yahoo who has balanced them five times is an idiot. You decide!

Well, I finally got my new wheels and tires on my 99 ext. cab after numerous problems with Four Wheel Parts Wholesalers in Duluth, GA. I am glad to say that they are now on the truck and look great! I went with American Eagle 589 wheels in 16x8 and Pro Comp Mud Terrains in 305/70/16(33x12.50). They look like they would rub, but I have put them through the paces and there is absolutely zero rubbing! They did trim some of the plastic behind the front bumper to prevent any possible rubbing, and it is not noticeable. The mud terrains are extremely quiet on the highway, barely any louder than my stock Goodyears. I am definitely satisfied with the Pro Comp Mud Terrains so far and would recommend them to anyone who is weary about buying an off name brand tire. I will email pics to anyone who wants them, or somebody can tell me how to post them here. pilot650@hotmail.com
