Question Tire size?

I have a 98 f-150 4x4 off road reg. cab. I plan to turn the torsion bars to bring the front up to make the truck level. After doing this I would like to install some BFG TA all terrains, what is the largest I can go with on the factory 17" rims and not scrubb?

I just had some BFG All Terrains on my 97. The only difference between our trucks is that mine is the extended cab. The largest tire that would fit without a lift is a 30-31 confortably. You could maybe go to a 32 but it would probably rub when you turned. I went with the 30 inch to be sure that it would be ok. They look great on it.

You could easily get a 31.6(about)tire cause the new f150 4x4 orps have the 265/75/17, i've heard if you crank the torsion bars a bit then you might be able to get some 33' under there.

275/70/17 goodyear wrangler GSA'S is what I just put on my truck. I also cranked the torsion bars up an inch & also made my own rear lift blocks & placed them under the factory blocks. The blocks I made are 3/4 thick steel. I had to buy new U-bolts. This set-up looks like the factory off-road package Ford should have built. It looks good.

Cool

I have 285's on my truck and haven't touched the torsion bars. Tires have never rubbed, even off-road. And I've had the tires on there for 6 months now.

The only 17" tire that BFG makes is the 265/70/17 and the 37/12.50/17 Baja, or somethin like that.

How much bigger are the 285/75/16's than the 265/70/17? This is the size I have now and would like to go bigger but I really don't want to buy new wheels.

If you have 17" wheels good luck on finding a 33" tire.Mickey thompson does make a 34"& a 31" baja belted radial for 17" rims.i am not sure if the 34 would fit without some sort of lift.

yeah, that seems to be the problem, finding 33's for 17" rims, I may have to end up sticking with the 265/70/17. Thats not what I want but I also can't afford new Wheels, seems stupid for ford to put a size wheel on that is very limmited to the # of tires that fit, guess if I had 16" wheels I could get whateverI wanted.
