Question Largest tires to fit stock '78

I did a search for this, but with no results other than newer model trucks('97-'00). What are the largest tires I can fit on my '78 F150 shortbed without adding a lift kit? Someone said 33's would fit, but I have my doubts. Also, how large of a tire could I go with if I added a 4" lift?

I had a 78 Bronco with a 4" lift I put 36 in super swampers with no problem.....I think 32s might be the biggest you can put on stock but I may be wrong......Dave
