Question BF Goodrich 315x70x17

Here is one for all of you tire people.......I have an 02 FX4 F150 all stock except a westin brush gaurd, XM, and a subwoofer that fits under my back seat, just some little things.

Anyways, I am tire shopping and have run across people that say they know what they are talking about, but i have my doubts.

I am under the impression that 305x70x17 will fit with no problems and 315x70x17 will fit with a few torsion adjustments. does any body have any tips for my first tire purchase?

Just for the record, the 315x70x17 BF GoodRich A/T KO tires are on sale, my local guy here is getting them for me at $126 mounted and balenced, yes i said $126. you might want to check it out in your area. I am also looking at the Maxxis Mudders which I am getting at about $150 a tire.

Does any body have any experience with these sizes???
Any input would be very much appreciated!!!

There are a few members over at FTW running the 315 BFG's on stock FX4's. The trick seems to be in using the stock rims. You will have to crank up the torsion bars and probably trim a little plastic off the front bumper's lower plastic valance.

The 315's will hurt your acceleration and ability to cruise on the top end. I thought it wouldn't be any big deal but I can't run in cruise at 70 except on flat terrain without the truck having to downshift. If you're going to go 315s, I'd set aside some money to regear. It's on my list of things to do -
